Gillie has been making dolls since she was very young, out of all kinds of materials - wood, cloth, ceramic. She  attended Harris Art College at Preston and then worked as a designer, painter and teacher, then as a full-time dollmaker.

Gillie specialised in making beautiful poured wax dolls with cloth bodies until 1980, when she started to make porcelain dolls as well as wax ones. Now most dolls in her catalogue are available in either medium and also wax over porcelain. The dolls have either human hair or mohair wigs and glass eyes and are dressed in cotton or silk with antique trimmings where possible. 

Gillie runs courses in painting dolls and modeling and mould-making.

Limited editions of five or twenty dolls and also one of a kind.

Portraits can be made from photos of children or adults.
