Laraine is intrigued by the changing ideals of feminine beauty through the
centuries. Faces and figures of her 46cm (18in) ladies capture the spirit of
their times as revealed through art of the period.
Laurence helps with modeling the original doll, and casts the figures in a
resin mix he has perfected. Each series is limited to 25, and dressed in a
one-of-a-kind costume designed and made by Laraine with the emphasis on
historical authenticity. So far they have produced ladies from the Mediaeval,
Tudor, Napoleonic, mid-Victorian and Twenties eras.
Laraine is now working on a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I dressed as in the
Armada portrait. She adores the intricacies of Elizabethan dress and hopes to
recreate more of Queen Elizabeth's portraits.
